Everyone has a hobby of some kind – most people have several. There are people who collect stamps; people who craft in leather or create graphic designs with their digital photos; people who love horseback riding, hiking or bicycling. Maybe you do something that you don’t even know is considered a “hobby”. Technically, anything that you engage in for fun that is outside of your occupational activities is considered a hobby- so chances are you have lots of hobbies!

Have you ever deliberated turning one of your hobbies into a business? You may be stunned at how nearly any hobby can be converted to profits, and without enormous overhead or ridiculously high kickoff costs. What’s even better, you aren’t required to have a specific product to sell! As a matter of fact, you’ll be able to make your knowledge your product to sell.

If you participate regularly in some sort of hobby, you are bound to know quite a bit about it. If you make scrapbooks of your family and friends, then you probably have extensive knowledge about where to get the best deals on your scrap booking supplies, and how to create special effects on your photo album pages. You have the personal knowledge of what it took to get started in the hobby. For example, scrap booking requires that you have access to supplies like paper, stickers, glue, photo albums and scrap booking tools. Someone who has just learned about scrap booking and thinks they want to start the hobby will need to figure out what they need to get started. You could offer this knowledge as your product to sell.

If you’ve ever used a search engine to look up information, you know that it’s time consuming to sort through all the data to find exactly what you’re looking for. Often, you’re given tons of information that doesn’t seem all that reliable, and you have to determine what you can use and what you need to avoid! When you make your personal knowledge of a hobby your product to sell- you’re helping everyone who wants to find that information without spending hours searching for it!

You don’t need to have a physical product to sell in order to make a profit. In fact, having an inventory or being forced to create physical items from materials offers a lower margin of profit than selling information.

Information products are among the top items to sell for a variety of reasons. They offer a low-priced to get started, meaning you start earning a profit after just a couple sales. Informational products include eBooks, online courses or email courses, software, audio files, web sites- basically anything that can be downloaded from the internet. You aren’t required to have an inventory and you will be able to set up your business model to allow you to earn money by the work other people do for you.

So now, maybe you are recollecting that these is all advantageously and good- but you still do not have a product to sell! You haven’t written an eBook, and perhaps your writing skills leave little to be desired. Making online or email courses are time consuming, and to make software you need exceptional training. You’ll be able to still sell your knowledge. Create a “package” of items that someone would need appropriate to get started in a particular hobby, and promote it as the “everything you need to know” about beginning the hobby. Contact someone who’s written an enlightening eBook on the topic; find somebody else who’s made an online video or radio show regarding it, and request permission to sell the items in your package. This is a product to sell: passing out your knowledge.

If you’re looking for a way to delight a little relaxation or maybe to spend a few hours with acquaintances, think of making arts and crafts a part of your life. It’s true that arts and craftsmanships is a broad, non-specific thing. But that is the great thing about it. Basically, taking time to research new arts and crafts means you get to be originative and have fun in any way you’d like to.

One of the best ways to learn new arts and crafts is to sign up for a class. There are probably several arts and crafts shops in your local area that offer classes on a whole variety of topics. Are you interested in learning how to knit or croquet? If so, there is likely a place near you. Or maybe you would rather learn to make your own pottery or even to paint pottery. Regardless of what kind of arts and crafts you want to explore there should be a class or a community of people to learn the skill in.

Spending time doing arts and crafts of any kind is a great way to relax. We all know how busy work and home become. It is so easy to get swept into the routine of all that needs to get done that we forget to take time out for ourselves to enjoy something new and fun. Arts and crafts are a great way to sneak away for a while and make something you will want to treasure at the same time. When choosing what you want to do, be sure that whatever arts or crafts you choose sounds relaxing and not stressful to you.

Doing arts and crafts together is a groovy way to pass superior time while doing something everyone enjoys. You’ll be able to get away from your children and coworkers and enjoy quality conversation about things and people that you care about. Consider beginning an arts and crafts group in your home once a week and inviting some friends you prefer to see more of. You’ll be surprised by how great an arts and crafts night is for reconnecting the friends in your life.

Is there an important holiday or a special event coming up that you need to remember with a gift? If so, use arts and crafts to arrive at the perfect present. Think of the person you’re making the gift for and then use your free time to relax and delight arts and crafts. There’s never a better gift than one that was made with love.

Take time nowadays to check out local shops that are offering arts and crafts classes. Enroll in a class that concerns you or consider hosting a class in your home. Invite your close friends you’ll enjoying relaxing time doing arts and crafts before you know it. A good craft experience isn’t only mentally enriching but it can also suit a financially rewarding experience.

Nobody can resist that familiar homey feeling which is brought by smelling home made ginger bread cookies. We all get that nice and warm feeling inside whenever we get anything that makes us feel loved. And there’s nothing more that brings out these emotions better than homemade products we get from our loved ones. Doesn’t it make you just want to share it? you’ll happy to know that actually, you can! Where? Why in crafting fairs in New Jersey of course!

The season of sharing gets a lot better especially if we share those things that are closest to us. What am I talking about? I’m talking about the products of our hearts and hands, of course. Our little handiwork can give us that extra cash that we always need and the way to go is towards trade shows and art fests in New Jersey. It’s all about giving people the chance to share what we ourselves have been sharing all the time.

Spending time to prepare for trade shows can eat up your time for other responsibilities if you’re not careful. It could definitely make you miss some of life’s more important things like spending time with your kids or friends. It’s a good thing that there are available fairs and festival calendars in New Jersey which can help you plan your schedule so you don’t have to miss out on life’s moments.

The New Jersey fairs and festivals database often comes with a calendar which can give you months in advance heads up about upcoming events in the world of arts and crafts. Getting tired of being surprised at the event with application fees and other expenses? No problem, the database contains those information as well. Everything that you’ll need to make sure that you don’t arrive at the venue clueless.

You’ll notice that the more time you have, the more you can make your hand made hobby kits churn out fantastic products. The quality is going to go up and this means more profits from more and more impressed customers. Something made with love and passion is definitely better than anything crammed. Many hobbyists are loving this advantage the New Jersey fairs and festivals calendars and database is giving them. Don’t get left behind. It’s best to subscribe to these calendar services and start making those wonderful products that your talent has to offer. With a little more effort, you might as well make a living out of them.

Start your business well prepared with the newest updates about New Jersey Craft Shows and save lots of time.

Traditional mantel clocks are beautifully designed clocks small enough to place above fireplaces, mantels (which is a suggestion as to where they got their names), or just shelves. Highly decorated with ornate figures and designing, they are almost frequently built with any combination of the following; porcelain, wood and ormolu.

These clocks were invented in France around the middle of the eighteenth century, and though they are roughly the same size as other chamber clocks, you’ll find that the chamber clocks usually come equipped with carrying handles, which mantel clocks lack.

At the turn of the nineteenth century, a famous clockmaker by the name of Simon Willard came up with an impressively original design difference on these these clocks that would stay with them to the present day. This was the model that was known as the Simon Willard clock, and with the support of his family, he managed to build up a company that would go down in history for their locks.

One of the interesting things about mantel clocks is that they have an impressively unique form of mechanisms. The big difference is that while wall clocks have their mechanisms attached to the backboard, while mantel clocks are supported by their seat board.

During the 1790s, Simon Willard was still selling standard shelf clocks and they looked a great deal like tall standard clocks, though they had no body. The hood and the base were associated together to make a complete body and this design came complete with a calender dial and a second hand, though this last was something that was fairly uncommon in the clocks of the time.

The models of mantel clock that were produced back during this era were weight driven and they had an extended base to help with the weight counterpoint. With this in mind, you’ll find that they can run for a week. The pinwheel escapements were a part of this design as were the snail and the rack. There was also a hole in the face of the clock where the twelfth hour sits, which would make it easier to open the case when the pendulum needed to be adjusted.

The mantel clocks weren’t really a big hit when they first came out because of Eli Terry’s Clocks (which were considered as superior during that time). Nowadays though, these clocks of Simon Willard are acknowledged as true American masterpieces. Having a high wave of interest among antique collectors like museums or other dealers, their price range is around 50 thousand dollars to almost 250 thousand (so long as they’re in perfect working condition).

Two other companies that produce modern designs of the antique mantel clock include Seiko Clocks and Rhythm Small World Clocks. These clocks were manufactured with metal and with other technological advancements, though old world materials are often used to give them that lovely traditional touch. Instead of being driven by weight, they are now run on standard batteries and they can play upwards of 15 different variations on the classic clock melodies. The chimes can be activated by light, so that they won’t sound in the dark and they also come with volume controls.

When you are looking for something that will look great in your home as well as symbolize America’s creativity, look for a mantel clock; you won’t regret it!

Every year, over 700 aspiring and seasoned artists arrive from every part of the country.

These talented artists display every imaginable type of artwork, from paintings, drawings, prints, and watercolors to ceramics and pottery, hand decorated porcelain, jewelry, floral arrangements, metal and wood work, furniture, blown, stained, and art glass, even clothing… The list simply goes on and on. Each exhibitor is expected to have made the art or craft with their own bare hands.

It has been a very long time since the St. James Court Art Show became too big for it’s original location. Today, the event crowds every inch of St. James, and Belgravia Courts, as well as the majority of Magnolia, 3rd and 4th streets, and even Central Park. About a quarter of a million attendees arrive over the course of the three-day event, utilizing the fine autumn weather and the impressive Victorian architecture.

There are six sections that you could note at the St. James Court Art Show. Each of these sections will have different criteria and deadlines; so while you may apply to more than one section of the show, you will have to apply individually on each section. It’s really a lot more trouble than it’s worth, in my personal opinion. I suggest just sticking to one section each year.

If believe you have some skill as an artist that you want to show the world, the sheer amount of people at St. James will be extremely helpful for you. You can just try it out, and you never know. You may gain fame for your pieces!

You may be living in luxury in that 40 foot motor home or roughing it for a few weeks in a camper, but you can bring one of the comforts of home with you by having your photos scanned. Most people would never consider taking their photo albums in a recreational vehicle because of the storage requirements and the added possibility of damage while traveling. Now you don’t have to worry about storage or damage issues.

Wouldn’t it be great to take a complete set of all of your photos with you, neatly stored away on a DVD or two? Digitizing your ordinary photos is the way to make this possible. Whether you decide to purchase an inexpensive photo scanner and do it yourself or send your photos to a low cost scanning service. You can find excellent scanning services for as little as a nickel per scan.

Once you have scanned your photos you have permanently stopped them from the natural process of deterioration caused by aging and decay. Digitized photos are easily and inexpensively copied so you can put complete copies of your photos in different locations. This protects them from destruction by natural causes. It also allows you to give complete sets of all of your photos to family members.

Once your photos are scanned you can build a slideshow that you can view on your RV’s TV. If you have the skills and desire, building your own slideshow that could include adding text and music to your photos would be a great “on the road” evening project. There are lots of services that will build a slideshow for you if you prefer.

Digital picture frames are a great way to view your newly scanned photos. And the good news is that they are getting to be relatively affordable. Some of the more expensive frames allow you to play a slideshow, add captions to your images, and add music. The low cost of high capacity memory cards now makes it possible to store all of your digital images right in the frame. Having your photos organized in a digital picture frame when you are visiting family or making new friends on the road is definitely worth the effort.

If you have large numbers of photos then doing them yourself could be an incredibly boring task. You could consider using one of the photo scanning services found online. But, shop carefully as prices and services vary greatly. Make sure you understand what your requirements are. For example you shouldn’t be paying to scan ordinary photos at a higher resolution than 300 dpi. You can find other articles online by this author that discuss some of these money saving topics. You can find great photo scanning services for as little as a nickel.

So now you’re in business. You’re rolling down the highway, your family’s precious memories are not only protected from damage and destruction, but wherever you go you have that little piece of home with you. You can add new digital pictures you are taking to your collection, but now they won’t be in two different forms. They will all be digitized, easy to store, easy to duplicate, and easy to view and enjoy. Happy Motoring!

The pace of life in the farm can slow down to a crawl. While there is always something to do on the fields, you will inevitably find yourself too bored at one point. There needs to be something that breaks the monotony of the lifestyle of waking up early in the morning, working the fields, and then eating dinner and going to bed.

Because of this, a lot of South Carolina residents have taken to doing hobbies and crafts. They keep their hands from becoming too idle and they are able to set goals to keep their heads on track. At the very least, it helps pass the time. You can also vary your crafting medium to prevent things from being monotonous, as that will defeat the purpose. You can take your pick from an endless assortment of hobbies, from woodcarving to baking to embroidery.

People who are into crafts will eventually find their finished products piling up. This is expected, but the space the items will take up prompt people to give away some of their crafts to friends and family. This is well and good, but there’s an alternative. It may help you earn a bit of money on the side, if you’re smart about it.

Have you ever come across a craft fair here in South Carolina? This is the perfect end goal for a craftsman’s hobby. You get to see people appreciate and hopefully purchase your crafts, and you get to dip into a small business venture and earn extra income. Not only do you kill the boredom, but you are being financially productive whilst you are doing so.

So whenever you’re ready, grab a crafting hobby and stop living a monotonous life! And once you’ve got the hang of it, try your luck by applying for a booth in one of the many craft fairs in South Carolina. Go to the Internet and look for South Carolina Craft Fairs today!

Get those old photos out of the closet and build a slideshow that you can watch on a TV. You’ll be amazed how easy and inexpensive it is to turn your precious memories into an entertaining masterpiece. The first step is to have your photos scanned. Find an inexpensive photo scanning service to digitize your photos so that you can view and work with them on a computer. If you have lots of photos don’t do this yourself, it can be incredibly time consuming. You can find great quality photo scanning for as little as five cents a photo.

Get Artistic. Turn your scans into slideshows that you can view on a TV. You can purchase software like Pro Show Gold by Photodex and have a ball creating that masterpiece. It’s easy, you basically just drag your images into a timeline in the order you want, add text to the images if you desire to clarify what the photo is about, and then add your own music. Pretty simple! My favorite feature is the “Ken Burns” effect that allows you to zoom in or to different parts of the photo to bring life to your images. The built-in photo editor allows you to color correct, crop, or rotate your images right in the program. Your 3×5 snapshots will look good even on a widescreen TV.

If you need slideshow freeware you’ll find it on the web. Different free services and software are suitable for different purposes. Some make it easy to create and upload your slideshow to social networking sites. Some are simply slideshow creation software. Spend some time exploring the features that are offered, and always download from a familiar site. Sites like Goggle Picassa, Extra Photo Slideshow Free, and Wildbit software can include music and photo editing capabilities. They may not allow you to show your slideshow on a TV.

You may want to think about placing your slideshow in a digital picture frame. Prices have come down on digital picture frames with some 14″ frames selling for as little as $99. Some of the smaller frames now go for under $25. We expect this trend to continue. With memory card prices also hitting new lows you can afford to put your entire digital photo library on them. Lots of digital frames come with slideshow software installed, and some will play audio. So when your friends come over you can crawl into the back of that closet to dig out the box of gradually fading photos, or you can flip on that beautiful digital picture frame.

You can have your slideshows hosted online at Picturetrail or Iwebphoto. You can then send your friends and family a link to your slideshows. This can simplify matters somewhat. If you have a lot of photos it can save everyone from downloading the files. And you can add remove or edit the slideshows at any time. Don’t forget to add a text description to your slideshow to let everyone know what the photos are about. And go ahead and jazz up your photos with special effects or make a few black and white. Have Fun!

Make sure you choose a photo scanning service that scans at 300 dpi, and don’t pay for more. See if you can find a service that includes automatic photo enhancement at a reasonable price. This can do wonders for some if not all of your images. And be sure to insist on a complete copy of the original scans that have not been rotated, enhanced, or manipulated in any way. Then always make a copy of your master scans to use for anything. Shop around, scanning costs can vary greatly.

Scanning photographs permanently protects them from destruction and loss. Once your images are stored on a DVD and sent to two or three different places you are assured of always being able to retrieve at least one copy. You can generate copies on your computer for the price of a blank DVD to share with your friends and family. Day to day loss of quality is no longer an issue. Your treasured memories are safe and sound.

by Rick Amorey

The people of Missouri are well known for being skeptics; they are not one to be swayed by eloquent words. No matter how much one tries to convince them that something is worthwhile, one must first show them if it is indeed worth it. For this reason, the state’s motto has become “Show Me”.

The people of Missouri are more in tune with the tangible things, rather than the ideal. I’m not saying Missourians aren’t spiritual or religious; them being skeptical applies only to the everyday matters, not the spiritual. So, naturally, they involve themselves in crafted works of different levels.

If you’re a resident of Missouri, chances are good that you have a fondness for making crafted works. If you are, then I pat you on the back. Reach for high levels of intricacy for your embroidered designs, or carven objects if you have woodcarving skills. Strive to make something that will be pleasing both to the eyes and to the touch; as this is important to the Missourian’s fondness for tangible things.

Once you have enough skill doing your craft, it is now high time to try and show your stuff to the world at large. Reveal what you can do, not just to your family and friends, but to the whole State. Remember, as the State motto goes, “Show me!”

How would this be done? Your crafts should be well received in the various craft shows held in Missouri annually. All you have to do is search the Internet for the schedules to these shows, and then contact the organizers so that you can reserve a spot. It will be a perfect opportunity to earn a little extra income. And at the very least, you are going to receive tips on how to improve upon your physical work.
