Most of us own at least a hammer, saw, and nails. How would we hang that picture without them, right? For the casual repair minded guy or girl, these basics might suffice, but things get more complicated as time goes on. We graduate to screwdrivers and wrenches, tape measures and levels, crowbars and files. What do we do with all these tools? Alas, for many of us, we just throw them into an old box, or onto the shelf, or chuck them into the garage. Not a very glorious storage place for our cherished implements is it? Having said that, is a tool chest the most appropriate storage device for everyone? We have identified eight different types of tool storage systems. These systems are:

Storage System #1) Soft Tool Carriers

Made to store your tools efficiently, they are usually made out of “rip-stop” materials (to reduce the chance of tearing). Great for carrying tools around the house for those “quick jobs”.

Tool Storage #2) Tool Organizer on the Wall

Unless you have a nice big house and garage, space is often at a premium. For many of us, we have tools, but not too much space to store them in. The wall-mounted tool organizing unit is great for this type of situation. Not only do they keep your tools organized, they keep them out of the way as well.

Tool Storage #3) Toolbox for a Carpenter

These tool storage systems are especially made for storing and transporting carpenters’ tools back and forth from the job site. They are usually made from wood to protect metal blades and bit edges from damage.

Storage Device #4) A Mechanics’ Toolbox

These tool storage systems are especially made for storing and transporting mechanics’ tools. They are usually constructed out of metal or high-impact resin. The best versions of this system have drawer trays and drawer liners.

Storage System #5) Compartment Parts Box

Small parts and little accessories are always getting lost and in the way. This storage device will fit the bill perfectly. Especially great for storing:

a) Small tools

b) Bits for a Drill

c) Saw Blades

d) Those commonly used parts

e) Those Small Nails

f) Those Tiny Screws

These units are usually made out of metal (or high-impact resin). Some models have adjustable compartments.

Storage System #6) Mechanics’ Tool Chest

These tool storage systems are especially made for storing a mechanics’ tools. Usually made from metal or high-impact resin, some chests have wheels so they can be easily portable around the garage.

Tool Storage #7) Gang Box

If you have a lot of tools that you need to move around the job site, these storage systems are idea. They are usually made out of very durable materials, like metal or high-impact resin. Most of these systems have locking tops to ensure that tools do not “walk off”.

Storage System #8) Truck Box

These tool storage systems are especially made for storing and transporting tools on a truck. They are usually constructed out of aluminum, steel, or high-impact resin. Since these systems are on the back of a truck, most have locking tops to ensure tool security.

If you would like further details on these types of systems, or require further input on finding that great tool chest of your dreams, our blog is here to help. We also offer a number of TOP PICKS…

Your beloved tools should have a great tool chest to house them...but how do you find it? Fear not...we are here! We will walk you through the process to find the perfect "container" for your needs.

Your beloved tools should have a great tool chest to house them…but how do you find it? Fear not…we are here! We will walk you through the process to find the perfect “container” for your needs.

1) Determine the Size and Mobility. They say that “Bigger is Better”, but that is not always the case when you are looking for that perfect toolbox. What if you have only a wrench, a screwdriver and a hammer? There is no need for one of those “gigantic” chest sit would only take up space and be a real pain to get to the location you want to work at. If you get a toolbox to fit the number of tools you have you will be much better off.

2) What is the Size of the Drawers? Tools vary in shape and size, and your toolbox needs to be able to contain them. Some tools, such as rulers and crowbars can be rather long and narrow. Other tools, like jacks, are rather bulky and heavy. The toolbox you settle on needs to be able to house all these tools. Don’t forget the drawer ratings while you are picking out that “box”.

3) Drawer Slides. Have you ever seen those little rails inside a toolbox? They are the drawer slides, and the actual drawers ride upon them. They need to fit, or the drawers will not run smoothly. Two slides are all you will need if the drawers are shallow. If the drawers are deep then you will need four. Consider the weight rating of the drawer for smooth action. Ball bearing slides are definitely the best you can get…but they are not an absolute must.

4) Consider the Casters. If you are planning on moving that huge toolbox around the shop you will be glad you got one set on casters. Casters need to be of appropriate size. If they are too small, the chest will catch on uneven surfaces and perhaps tip over. 4″ casters are the bare minimum, but 5″ or 6″ are preferred. You should have two locking casters so that the toolbox will not roll all over the shop.

5) What’s It Made From? Is the chest you are considering made from “Stainless Steel” or “Mild Steel”? They are the primary choices.

6) What About the Warranty? A company that believes in their product will give you a great warranty. If you can get a toolbox that has a lifetime warranty…go for it.

If you follow these 6 items you will be able to locate that perfect tool chest to house your beloved tools.

Selecting presents for men need not be a daunting task. In this article we will focus on ideas for finding and selecting that great gift. The holiday season is just around the corner, so the time to get started is now… In future articles we will feature our TOP PICKS of unique and special gifts, but for now, let’s examine ways to find the perfect gift for that special guy.

We know from experience that the best way to ensure that you get what you want is to go ahead and ask for it. So, why not ask that special guy on your gift list what they would like to receive? They may not know right away what they want, but keep them talking. The more they talk, the more you will learn what they like and don’t like, and you will come away with some potentially great gift ideas. Be sure to listen intently to what they are saying…and write everything down when you get a moment. With a little deductive reasoning on your part you are well on your way to locating that great gift.

What type of lifestyle does this guy lead? Does he work all the time? Is he a student who is either always in class or doing his homework? Is he an avid sports fan who is always in front of the television or at the arena? A lover of parties who is constantly dancing the night away? A health food junkie who knows all the best places to get organic produce? Often the lifestyle that a guy leads will give some indication as to what he would like to receive in the form of a gift.

Is this guy rich, or at least on his way? If money is no object to him, why go spend a lot of money on a gift? He can just go out and get it himself. You might want to take a more personal approach. Why not make something, or get something that is personalized? It will tell this guy that you have spent some time on him, not only in selecting the gift, but in making it.

Do you know this guy very well, or is your relationship more superficial or casual? How well you know this person will often determine the type of gift that you should get him. For example, if he is just a casual friend, getting him a suggestive T-Shirt would be inappropriate. Just consider what type of gift you would like to receive from him.

What about hobbies? Does this guy have a particular hobby that they enjoy? Gifts that compliment a hobby are often great gifts to give. When they are pursuing their hobby they will see your gift and think of you. If you don’t know anything about this hobby, there are other people who do. Why not post a question on the internet, or call up a local hobby store. People love to talk about their hobbies and will more often than not be happy to help you out.

We hope that this article has been insightful and helpful, and you now have some fantastic ideas on getting presents for men. Our next article will feature our TOP PICKS, but if you can’t wait, please visit us on our blog…

To begin with, let’s put this rumor to rest. People think that Google has claims copyright to the content of your blog. This is false. Google may be able to maintain the intellectual property rights for the tools they provide you with, but the information on your website is still the property of the original author. This is explained in detail in their terms of service. http://www.blogger.com/terms.g

Limitations of content. Google is authorized to limit, or even terminate your account when your content violates their service conditions. (This is not a factor for most writers, the permitted content is very broad – and is limited mainly to hate and illegal activities) Using WordPress, you host your blog on the hosting account that you possess. While you have power over your content, you may yet be bound to the restrictions of the TOS or terms that your web hosting company lays out.

Ease of Installation: Blogger is usually simpler to install. If your hosting company doesn’t have Fantastico as part of its web hosting service, you will have to install WordPress by hand, which can be difficult — especially if you aren’t very adept with your server control panel and FTP.

Google is the winner for customization. It’s easier to edit template layouts, styles, and color with Blogger than with WordPress. If your template isn’t quite what you wanted, “right out of the box,” you will need to know PHP and HTML to accomplish very much using WordPress.

Each platform offers dozens of templates; and private individuals have created even more template formats, with the numbers on the rise still. Most third-party templates are free, but they will accept donations. Don’t worry, they are polite about asking for contributions and any that I’ve seen do not spam you or require you to register — though they may request that you retain a very small and unobtrusive link to their website to help them out.

Other widely-used blog software includes Xanga, Drupal (major learning curve), Joomla, and several more.

You can get blog hosting for free at sites like wordpress.com, Blogger, MySpace, TypePad, and so on.

The real deciding factor is how much control you wish to have over your site and how skilled your are with HTML, PHP and server operation (FTP, databases, etc.). Select WordPress if you already know HTML and are comfortable with learning PHP (it’s not that hard). Choose Google if you are worried about money, or if you just want to begin hassle-free blogging.
