Finding hot selling affiliate products to promote is never easy. When we are looking for products to sell online, the first step is to discover what people are buying. There is no sense trying to sell something that does not have a market. We have to first research the level of demand for a product and then research the amount of competition that is in that niche.
There are three requirements that any product must meet before it can be considered suitable for marketing. The first of these is need. Need is the primary factor that motivates people to look for something to buy. Next are the customer wants. Finally, there are the customer expectations. Together, these three are called the Gatekeeper dimensions of sales.
Needs are the specifics that drive a customer to look for the product. Wants are more wide ranging and involve more freedom of choice. Expectations are what the customer is expecting to get out of their particular product choice.
The next step is to determine what your market share is likely to be. This will depend largely on the amount of competition you have, but it is more than that. Yes, it is important to study your competition, but it is equally important to discover what the consumer wants in a product. In this way, you can find a market segment or niche that you can potentially gain a dominating position in.
Also, look at the overall picture and consider the general interest factor. There may be a high level of interest in a product that has not yet shown a high sales volume. Are many advertisers pushing similar products. If the general interest factor is high, that may be a product line worth pushing.
Next comes the stage where we collate all of the collected data and see how it all fits together. If a product has very low demand, there will obviously be little conversion into sales. If there is too much competition, you will be getting too small of a market share to make pushing that product viable.
Now pay attention to your advertising dollar. You need to get a significant return on your advertising investment or you are wasting your money. No amount of advertising is going to pay off if there is little or no general interest in a product combined with poor existing sales.
