For you to succeed in the internet marketing business, you are going to have to stand out from everyone else. There is a multitude of people out there doing the same thing as you and you don’t want to get lost in the crowd.
There are many thousands of people who, just like yourself, are selling the very same product or information. How are you going to bring those people to your site instead of them visiting someone elses? One very powerful way, is by branding yourself.
If you look up ‘brand’ in the Webster’s Dictionary, it will state it means a mark made by a hot iron, a trademark or a mark of infamy. When an animal is branded with a hot iron, it is then easily identified as belonging to its owner. The good news is, you don’t have to go to that extreme to brand yourself!!! However, you are going to have to take some type of action to permanently distinguish yourself from the hordes of other people out there, who are trying to attract the same prospects. This is going to take a lot longer than branding an animal, but it is going to be well worth the time and effort.
To start with, we have to ask ourselves some serious questions. For instance, what impression do I want to leave with others when they meet me, whether in person or online and am I willing to stay the course and remain true to my ideals? Make sure that you really go through this process because once you decide how you want to be perceived, it is going to be difficult to backtrack and make changes down the road. If we waver in that way, people are going to lose trust in us and look for someone else to follow.
Once we have it clear in our minds how we want to portray ourselves, then we have to figure out ways to be seen and heard. One of the easiest and cost free ways, is to utilize the social media sites. Three of the most popular ones are Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. There are many more, but if you can create an identify on these three sites, you will be well on your way to branding yourself.
It is not sufficient to just visit and post on these sites now and again. You will get lost in all the traffic. If you want to create a large following you have to allow people to really get to know you and see how unique you are. You can only do this by posting every day, and on Twitter it is advisable to post a few times a day. Interact with others. When they ask a general question don’t wait for others to answer….type in a answer yourself right away. This is what ‘social networking’ is all about!! Yes, it’s about getting to know people and developing a friendship with them, so that they come to like and trust you.
There are no two people alike in this entire world and yet so many just want to imitate someone else. This is such a huge mistake. By being yourself, you are going to strike a chord with other likeminded people. They are going to relate to you more than anyone else, and will want to follow you and be taught by you. In this way, you will gradually build up a following. These people will become your ‘list’ and when you recommend something, they will listen.
Just remember, you do not want to be one of the crowd….it’s your aim to stand out in the crowd….in fact you want to be head and shoulders above everyone else in the crowd!! Believe me when I tell you that this is absolutely possible. You just have to identify your own uniqueness, put yourself out there for the world to see, stand back and watch it all happen!!
